Our Story
The National Center for the Haitian Apostolate (NCHA) was founded with a mission to serve Haitian communities through faith, cultural heritage, and compassionate service. For decades, the Apostolate has worked to empower Haitian Catholics and extend spiritual, educational, and pastoral resources across the United States and beyond.
Our Founder: Bishop Guy Sansaricq
The late Most Reverend Guy Sansaricq, the first Haitian-born bishop in the United States, was the visionary leader who established the National Center for the Haitian Apostolate. A tireless advocate for Haitian immigrants, Bishop Sansaricq dedicated his life to advancing the spiritual and social well-being of Haitian communities. Through his leadership, the Apostolate became a national model for cultural ministry, pastoral care, and faith formation rooted in dignity and tradition.
His legacy continues to guide our work and inspire a new generation of leaders committed to the same mission of service and solidarity.
New Leadership: Bishop Jacques Fabre-Jeune, CS
Today, the Apostolate enters a new chapter under the guidance of Bishop Jacques Fabre-Jeune, CS, Bishop of Charleston and one of the few Haitian-born bishops currently serving in the United States. With pastoral experience in multicultural ministry, missionary work, and immigrant advocacy, Bishop Fabre brings a renewed vision for expanding the Apostolate’s outreach globally. His leadership ensures that the Apostolate continues its work with humility, excellence, and deep fidelity to the needs of the Haitian people.
